Cold Fall Days and Warm Treats From the Kitchen

Today felt like a warm, cozy kind of day right from the get-go.  It was a chilly morning and just as I was about to pour my daughter a bowl of cereal I decided to spend a few extra minutes and make her french toast instead.

Definitely the right call.

There is a recipe I'd been meaning to try out for quite some time, Fluffy French Toast, that worked out very well.  Not only did it not have any sogginess at all, but the little squares of it I cooked to give my toddler were PERFECT little french toast sticks.  Will definitely be making this easy breakfast dish again!

Once my daughter was off to school, my son and I had some fun in the kitchen.  He played under his high chair with tupperware lids, a muffin pan, and a wooden spoon while I listened to music and whipped up some muffins.

I was halfway through the recipe when I realized it called for Pumpkin Pie spice, which I didn't have.

I wound up making this super-easy pumpkin pie spice and moving forward to make these WONDERFUL Pumpkin Muffins with Streusel Topping.  Easy and delicious!

Bonus?  My whole house smelled like fall all day after they baked :-)

As I finish this up, my daughter is doing crazy somersaults in the living room that are sure to end badly and my son is starting a meltdown- just in time for me to have to get dinner on- so I'll have to cut this short, but TRY THOSE MUFFINS PEOPLE!!  :-)
