Super Easy Super Awesome Slumber Party Invitations

Ohmygosh.

Where have I been?
I never go this long without writing.

Honestly?
I am incredibly thankful for how my Etsy shop has taken off, but between popcorn and kids I've just been ridiculously busy.

Did I mention we've had 8 snow days in the past two weeks?  Yup.  Popcorn and kids simultaneously.

I'm a mommy/homemaker/popcorn making rockstar lately...

Anyway, I've been MIA and I have missed writing soooooo much...

Lately it's all I can do to get food on the table much less get my crazy winter-time photo setup together to take pictures of it!

But, regardless of how busy I've been, there's something that can't go without my attention- my daughter is about to turn 9.
NINE.

One year away from a decade.  When did I get so old??

*sigh*

Well, time marches on and my little baby girl just isn't a baby anymore.  Once again, she's decided to have a slumber party for her birthday this year.

And, you know...I'm a bit of a Pinterest addict.  What is it about Pinterest that inspires the overachiever in me?  I don't know.  But when I searched for slumber party ideas I kept coming across this adorable invitation shaped like a sleep mask and I just knew it had to happen!

To be honest, these crazy little miniature pillow invitations were also on my radar...I think I picked the less complicated option :-)

Anyway, these were super simple.

I started with this template .  I opened it in Picasa, added my text (with fonts picked by the birthday girl, of course!), and printed them two to a page on card stock.
Taken by the birthday girl :-)

I cut out the paper masks and used a glue stick to attach them to cute scrapbook paper that my daughter picked out at Michael's.
Easy enough so far, right?

After the glue dried I cut out the masks and plugged in the glue gun.  First I put a small dot of glue on either side of the mask on the scrapbook paper side and attached the ribbon ties.  Then, working in sections- because hot glue dries quickly!- I used the glue gun to draw a thin line of glue around the edge of the mask.  I attached trim to the glue all the way around the edge of the mask.
And that's it.

They're super cute and the birthday girl can't wait for these snow days to end so she can pass out her invitations!  These were super-easy to make and pack way more of a punch than store-bought invites. I've included the materials I used below!

"I think it is one of the easiest yet coolest invites ever but even though I was going to do it,my mom did it.I will tell u this: they are totes cool & supes awsome! They are perf for slumber/sleep over party invites ever!sqeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!SO IF YOU ARE HAVING A SLUMBER PARTY PLEEEEAAASSE DO THESE INVITES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
